I put something into one of my fics that showed favour for McCain in the presidential election. I received a couple of comments about this. One of them was just a simple comment, but the other really irked me. I'm not a Republican; I'm Canadian. But if I was a Republican, is it really that big of a deal? I hate that we live in a world where you're made to feel ashamed of your beliefs or your political leanings. I hate that I can't say what I want. Just because I have an opinion, and that I believe my opinion to be right (isn't that what an opinion is), does not make me a bad person. I don't need to be yelled at for voicing my opinion. It's just an opinion. I respect other peoples opinions, I may not agree with them, but I still respect them. I want to be able to make bold statements. I want to be able to say things and not feel like I'm some sort of deviant because of it. And the people that are telling you your opinion is wrong are always the people that will scream bloody murder if you do the same to them.

So here are some of my opinions and beliefs: I support John McCain. I'm not American, but if I were, I would vote for McCain. Obama gives me a weird feeling. That doesn't mean that he won't be a good president, he's just not my choice. I'm a Conservative. I'm a card carrying member of the Alberta Conservative Party (not that it does me any good in Manitoba). I voted for the Conservative Party in the federal election last week. I think Harper is an okay Prime Minister. I think Bush is an okay President. I support legalized abortion because I think if it wasn't legalized, women would be having abortions in back alleys. Do I agree with the termination of a pregnancy as a form of birth control? No. Being pro-life does not make me a bad person. I'm not out picketing abortion clinics. I'm sick of gay pride. I don't participate in straight pride festivities. I just don't care. I don't want to know what straight people do behind closed doors, and I don't want to know what gay people do behind closed doors. I'm a Christian. I attend the Salvation Army, which some people see as a cult, but it's my church, so stop bugging me. I respect other people's religions. I won't shove my religion down your throat, don't shove your religion down mine. I don't care if you're a Wiccan, a Buddhist, or if you worship Donald Trump's hairpiece, just leave me in peace. I like cheesy pop music, mostly of the Europop variety, and country music. Sue me. I don't eat meat if I've seen it raw or if it looks like it used to be an animal. It's my prerogative.

Also, it's fanfic. It's a scenario that I created. If I want the sky to be purple, it'll be purple. If I want Tony and Ziva to go naked bungee jumping, they'll do it. If you don't like it, don't read it. The same goes for my blog. Nobody's forcing you. So if I offended you in the above rant, you know where the door is. I'm sorry if that's harsh, but that's just how I feel.

Wow, I feel so much better.

I finished another chapter of Snapshots last night, which I hope to post today.

We've decided to slow down on watching McLeod's Daughters because we're concerned that we'll finish S2 before S3 arrives. We ended up watching 3 episodes of The West Wing last night. I love all of those characters so much. Well, maybe not Toby, but he's pretty funny too. I killed myself laughing when the President was on his back medication. "I am seriously thinking...about getting a dog." I watched it like four times.

In honour of the new year, I have been doing some major housekeeping. I did a huge clear out of my communities and my flist. I only kept people if I make a point to try to read their journal (which is hard, but I do try). If you really want to be on my flist, let me know and I'll add you back in.

I'm trying to be more productive this year. It's not a resolution, as such, it's more of an "I always say I'm going to do blah" but never get around to it. I figure with the pending move (still pending, no actual movement) now is a good time to start simplifying things and deciding what is important to me.

I've just started a new fanfic, that once I get over this next bit of writer's block, I hope will be good. I'm going to go back to some of my old fics and challenges as well. Actually, I've left all of the challenges, but I'm still going to use the prompts, I just don't think they'll be fandom specific. My NCIS obsession has hit full blast, and I have an insane need to write, write, write. If I can get back into Gilmore Girls, I might even take a crack at the crossover fic I was thinking about writing. Writing is high on my list of priorities this year.

I also finished the 50bookchallenge that I started last year. I made it through 51 books, and started on a 52, but due to the holiday season and the wackiness that is my family, I didn't get it finished.
