I seriously hate my life.
I still haven't heard about the job that I interviewed for, but I really need it. Not only do I need the money, but nowhere else is calling me back, and while I usually get on pretty well with my mom, being with her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is starting to piss me off.
My mom has pre-senile, rapidly progressing cataracts. Since she started noticing a visible decline in her vision in August, it has progressed so quickly that she's almost blind in her left eye. As such, she really can't go out in the snow and ice by herself. I was supposed to be escorting her to the eye doctor's this afternoon. We got out onto the sidewalk in front of our house and she realized that she hadn't put on her sunglasses, so she asks me to hold her bag while she gets them out. Except that she starts walking and looking for her sunglasses. Given that we were about to step onto the service road in the next block (there are no sidewalks, just these service roads), I told her that she should stop because it wasn't safe. I jokingly asked who was the parent and who was the child. Something that normally wouldn't make her mad, but for whatever reason, today it did. Then she started in on how I'm not wearing boots and it ended with her telling me to go home, she could manage on her own. Well good for her. I'll remember that. Whenever she says something we all have to listen (and since our move all she ever does is bitch about stuff), but the minute anyone says something she doesn't like, we all better shut up. She's a right wack job!
At least I got to watch the CBS preview for next week's CSI: NY. The CTV one majorly sucked.
( Criminal Minds )
For their 100th episode, I was a little disappointed. They could have made it so much more interesting, but I felt it was a bit of a cop out. Also, why didn't they do Lindsay on the search for others with their names. Although I will admit that Don Flack is an excellent name.

I have another job interview on Monday. Things are definitely looking up.

( CSI: NY )
I cannot believe that Kenny Chesney is now tied with Garth Brooks for wins in the Entertainer of the Year category. Warcrime! I just don't get Kenny Chesney. And while I love Carrie Underwood, I really think that Taylor Swift deserved to win the Female Vocalist of the Year award. I was pleased that Brad Paisley won Male Vocalist of the Year. Also, I'd like to know why they even bother putting people up against George Strait, as he always wins. There's another guy I don't get. I was really pleased that Trace Adkins sang You're Gonna Miss This. And I didn't know that Darius Rucker was Hootie. That's awesome.

So on Tuesday night as we're starting NCIS after watching Dancing with the Stars (which was AWESOME! by the way, but Drew's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" is totally the best routine), my mom says to me, "You know, I would just wait to watch this another night." To which I responded that it was my favourite show, my reason for getting up on Tuesday morning. She then noted that I seem to have the same strong feelings about The Office, and asked what I would do if I could only watch one. Only watch ONE? There is no way.
On the one hand you have NCIS, which has a great cast of characters with somewhat unique interactions. On the other hand you have The Office, which has a great cast of characters with somewhat unique interactions. So it basically boils down to this: Tony or Jim? What kind of a question is that? Tony or Jim? I could not choose.
So then last night as we're watching CSI: NY (last week's, not this week's, we're a little behind) I laughed at something Flack had said and said "I love Flack." To which my mom says, "I know. Flack or Danny?" What is up with that? Although in light of recent circumstances this decision is somewhat easier. Flack, because he didn't cheat on his girlfriend.
All I can say is, I'm glad I'm not going to be home tonight, because I don't think I can take another night of tough questions.
Also,
sapphs, on YouTube, Jessystorm has posted all of Recoil. She usually on posts the Tony/Ziva arc, but because the episode was Ziva-centric, the whole thing is up. I'd post a link, but I'm at work.

I got to sleep in today. It was, in a word, wonderful. The phone rang at 7:45 to let my mom know that her taxi had arrived, so I woke up then to answer the phone. I thought she had already left. But then I got to go back to bed for half an hour, until I had to get up to make my brother a sandwich for his lunch. It was so nice to lie in bed for that extra half hour, knowing that while I had to get up, I didn't have to go anywhere until 10:45. My bed was so nice and toasty. Somehow you just don't get that feeling on a Saturday morning. It's just the thrill of knowing that everyone else is on their way to work, and you're at home lazing about.
I had to go to the doctor to get a new sleeping pill, because the one I'm on now is not working. There's a really fine line between taking it too early and lying awake for hours staring at the ceiling and taking it too late and having to stumble up the stairs to bed like a drunk person. Because when it hits, it hits fast. I can be sitting at the computer and suddenly I can't keep my eyes open, the room looks funny, and I feel absolutely terrible. So we'll see how this new prescription works. While I was there, I mentioned that my ears have been plugging recently and she flushed them. That was horrible. It wasn't painful, just really annoying. It better have worked.

41. The King Of Torts - John Grisham - Legal - I found myself completely terrified by my level of investment in the character of Clay Carter. I had a hard time finishing this book because I was so afraid of what I assumed would be the horrific fate of the character. He was likeable. As the only lawyer for the Washington, D.C. Office of the Public Defender, Clay finds himself drawn into what I can only call a terrible web of greed and self-destruction. This web is woven around him by large pharmaceutical companies, and I now find myself wondering what horrible side effects I may experience from any medications I have ever taken. It wasn't one of Grisham's best books, but a good read anyway.

Author’s Note: I don’t own CSI: New York or Danny or Lindsay. If I did, Danny would be on display in some sort of hot guy museum. Also, this story starts at Christmas, but the majority of it will take place in the weeks and months following the holiday season. Enjoy!
